Supreme Court annulled government decision to appoint Jaya Bahadur Chand as Nepal Police IGP. The full bench of Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Justices Hari Krishna Karki, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Aanada Mohan Bhattarai and Anil Kumar Sinha annulled the Cabinet decision to promote DIG Chand to the post of IGP. The bench stated that the appointment of Chand did not fulfill the requirements as per the Nepal Police Regulations. The bench has ordered the government to appoint Nepal Police IGP to one of the four existing DIGs, who scores the highest points in the criteria set by the Nepal Police Regulations. Nawaraj Silwal, Prakash Aryal, Chand and Bam Bahadur Bhandari are the four DIGs in Nepal Police.
