KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s son and personal secretary Sakar Dahal aka Prakash has publicly admitted that he possesses a gun.
“Yes, it is true that I acquired 12-Bore gun completing legal procedure…,” Prakash wrote on Facebook yesterday after the Nepal Samacharpatra reported that he has bought a modern rifle paying Rs 1.5 million.
He, however, dismissed the report that he paid Rs 1.5 million for the lethal weapon. According to him, the 12-Bore gun is worth only Rs 1,50,000 including tax.

Prakash, who has been dragged into controversies several times in the past due to his wayward nature and hasty remarks on social media, currently resides with his father at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar amid heavy security arrangements.
Maoist Chairman Dahal appointed his son as one of his personal secretaries after getting elected as the Prime Minister for the second time last year.
The Prime Minister’s son, who have been sarcastically called “crown prince” by many on social media, had applied for permission from the Kathmandu District Administration Office to buy and possess the lethal weapon more than one year ago, claiming that he faces security threat.
The DAO granted him a license as per the Arms and Ammunition Act on Thursday after he imported the gun from Italy along with 200 bullets.
It is said that Prakash has fetish for guns since the Maoist war days. He has shared few photographs posing with guns on Facebook.
